UK plans to use health services app as proof of vaccination for travel

Britain is working on using the National Health Service (NHS) existing coronavirus app to show people have received their COVID-19 vaccine for international travel, Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said on Wednesday.

“This will be the NHS app that will be used by people when they make appointments with the NHS … to be able to show that you have had a vaccine or that you have been tested, and I am working on that international with partners around the world, to ensure that this system can be recognized internationally, ”he said.

Britain has designated May 17 as the earliest date on which international travel would be permitted for non-essential reasons following a winter lockdown, with a “traffic light system” based on risk levels of COVID of each country.
