The NBA season is not allowed to end until Zach Lowe drops his annual League Pass leaderboard, a metric for which teams are expected to be the most entertaining, intriguing, or compelling to watch throughout the season. We don’t really have that for college basketball. So far. The highly anticipated season begins on Monday, and an offseason filled with projections and hyperbole can finally, thankfully, come to an end. We have a pretty good idea of what some teams are going to look like in 2022-23.
North Carolina is considered one of the best teams in the country. With four returning starters, Hubert Davis’ crew will likely go as far as Caleb Love, RJ Davis and Armando Bacot will take it. Kansas could be without Bill Self for the first four games, but the defending national champions are expected to play electric defense after some of his offseason moves. Indiana will go through Trayce Jackson-Davis, and Kentucky will go through Oscar Tshiebwe. We know what is on the way. But there are others that are filled with questions and intrigue.
The League Pass ladder is a mix of the two. We’re looking for intriguing teams with fun playstyles that could surprise us with dazzling performances while winning big along the way.

These are my top 12 teams. My personal biases about what I like to watch are on full display. But these are the teams I’m going to rush to watch for various (hopefully fun) reasons. I cannot guarantee that every team will be excellent. But they will certainly be entertaining.
