LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Louisville City FC faced OKC Energy FC in a scoreless tie Sunday night on the road.
“There are some areas where we can definitely improve,” LouCity head coach Danny Cruz said. “But still, it was a fight. It was a battle. It was a fall, and my message to (the players) was that I am proud of them. But if we are to achieve the goals that we have set for ourselves, we have to make sure that we are looking to improve ourselves in the areas where we can.
Sunday’s game marked the return of midfielder Oscar Jimenez to the pitch. Jimenez suffered a meniscus injury and last appeared in uniform in the season opener on April 24.
“I worked a lot,” Jimenez said. “It’s nice to be back with my teammates. They pushed me all this time. I’m just glad I have a few minutes under me because we’re in a big part of the season right now where everyone has to be ready to contribute.
Despite the draw, LouCity’s Central Division lead fell to seven points when second-placed Birmingham Legion FC lost.
LouCity has a chance to put a little more distance between them and Birmingham when they visit the second place squad on Saturday night.
