In his words – London Lions record holder Kylor Kelley

Ahead of the season-ending BBL play-off finals, we caught up with London Lions colossus Kylor Kelley, who contributed to this special column ahead of the event.

It was a disappointing night, but what we have to learn from the Trophy final is that we have to approach these big moments in the right way. We came into this final a little too relaxed compared to what we should have done, thinking Cheshire was going to turn around, so we know this time we have to prepare properly and take nothing for granted as we prepare for Sunday. .

For my first year here, having had the opportunity to come to London and play, I really enjoyed myself. It’s been a little different to what I’m used to with so many different competitions, but that means there’s always something to look forward to and now we’re really delighted to close the season against Leicester in the Play-off. Final.

It will definitely be a great game between two great teams. It’s going to be a really good occasion and the fans are going to have a blast – we’ve played the Riders many times this year and every game has been of such high quality and really fun for the fans to watch, so we’re excited for that and for the fans to be part of it. If the season is to end, it will end in style with a very nice finale.

I’ve played in many great arenas in my career and although I’ve seen the 02 and been around the area since I’ve been here in London I haven’t yet broken into inside and seen the arena, so I’m excited for this experience because it looks from the outside that there’s room for a lot of fans to make a lot of noise in there!

I’ve had a lot of recognition this season and that’s always nice, especially after all the hard work I’ve put in, but a lot of the credit goes to my teammates who made it easy for me to block those shots. and enter the record books like that.

As a team we’ve had a few injuries over the past few weeks, with Dirk Williams missing a few games and Justin Robinson as well, but the rest of the squad have responded well and stood up to be counted out. We really found another level of focus as a group and it showed on the pitch over the last few weeks as we played really well.

Offensively, we have always been a team that can score a lot. We have great goalscorers and they are shooting the ball at a high percentage and the movement of the ball is on point but since the Trophy final we have really focused on our defensive work and that is a real area for improvement . for us recently.

This is the last chance for us to win silverware. We have high expectations as a team and we’re going to go out there and do what we have to do and hopefully that means we leave the 02 Arena with a title to show for it – if we had to do that it would be there. one of the greatest seasons of my career, for sure.
