On June 9, as part of their annual Spring Court of Honor ceremony on June 9, 1 Acton Troop celebrated seven new Eagle Scouts: Sam Cluett, Christoph Conley, Collin Cooper, Viraj Lawande, Mukundh Murthy, Henry Starr and Michael Xu.
Each of these scouts was awarded a certificate and pin for reaching the highest rank in scouting by Bill Ossman, chairman of the Eagle committee. In order to reach Eagle, each Scout had to complete a city service project.
Sam Cluett built ramps on both sides of a major bridge in Nashoba Creek Conservation Territory to improve accessibility for all outdoor enthusiasts.
Christoph Conley cataloged, cleaned and moved a collection of artifacts from the Acton Historical Society’s Hosmer House to the nearby barn to create an accessible and intuitive museum for visitors.
Collin Cooper built a 64-foot boardwalk in the Acton Arboretum.
Viraj Lawande built three garden benches for the outdoor classroom at Acton-Boxborough Regional High School.
Mukundh Murthy built sound tubes for the Discovery Museum.
Henry Starr built a 60-foot boardwalk connecting the Chinese Bridge to the trails at the Acton Arboretum.
Michael Xu organized a tool drive and built a storage bench for the Acton-Boxborough Regional High School Garden Club.
The evening also honored Bill Klauer for his 65 years of service with 1 Acton.
